Phuket Chinese New Year
The Chinese New Year,coonsidered a major holiday for the Chinese,is celebrated on the first day of the first lunar month in the Chinese calendar.
The days befor New Year,the Chinese family will clean every corner of their houses, It is belived the cleaning sweeps away bad luck and makes their home ready for good luck. The day before New Year,the members of the family will get together to pay respect to their ancestors. Houses are decorated with red banner at the front doors and read paper cutouts of Chinese auspicious phrases for good wises around the house and the sides of the front doors.
